Hyperpigmentation is a skin color disorder characterized by dark areas on the skin, and is caused by an increase in the amount of melanin, dark skin pigmentation. Exposure to sunlight, pregnancy, certain illnesses, age or trauma may lead to melanoma disorders and create non-aesthetic brown spots inherent in this benign disorder.

The exact causes can be divided into two groups: external and internal. External causes can be those that come from the environment, such as exposure to the sun’s rays, or because of chemical compounds (betaxolol, minocycline, estrogen, progesterone, etc.). Internal causes are inheritance – the darker skin has a greater tendency to develop this disorder.

Pigtails, aging spots and sun spots are caused by harmful ultraviolet sunburns that damage melanin and result in temporary or permanent discoloration. Often, you can notice such stains on the face and hands, however, they can occur in any part of the skin that has been exposed to the sun.

Scarring from trauma or surgery can also cause a change in skin color, and even when the problem disappears, the dark spots remain.

Melazma is skin hyperpigmentation that occurs during pregnancy, although it can sometimes affect men. Usually, she is referred to as a mask of pregnant women because the brown spots cover the face – mostly nose and cheeks. This disorder usually passes on its own after the pregnancy and does not cause major problems.
